[Prinny 2: DoOPD] Asagi Mode | All Sakura Palace Variations | Hell's Finest
Had (and am still having) my casual fun with Xenoblade and Etrian Odyssey. After AGDQ 2018 I wanted to try a bit more speedrunning and I decided to try Asagi Mode.
Just like with the normal mode I am going to do every stage to find a route, starting with the frustrating Sakura Palace this time.
There is a little in-game intro I left in here but i'll explain it more below.
Asagi Wars in game introduction @ 00:14
10 hours left @ 01:06
9 hours left @ 03:09
8 hours left @ 05:16
7 hours left @ 08:11
6 hours left @ 11:07
5 hours left @ 14:15
----------
* In Asagi mode you are not 1 hit, instead your rating at the top decreases on enemy contact depending on your mode (50% on hardest). Not only are you not 1 hit, your rating drains so you can "revive" akin to in Earthbound by healing or winning before you die. This also allows for some damage boosts.
* Your grade at the end of the stage isn't solely time based. Since it is quicker to not get S ranks (A saves ~.5 seconds, B/C/D saves ~1 second) taking damage somewhere is good.
* Your Asagi gauge at the bottom fills up the same way as in the normal mode but your Super attack can't be used for movement, instead it deals a lot of damage.
----------
* Another feature is your 6 weapons which have ammo that refill at bosses or when you return to the hub
Weapon: Ammo on Hell's Finest, Damage, Other...
- Eggplant: Infinite, low damage, throws 2 items out in an arc. (Should not be using but may have backup strats for my main route because of the ammo)
- Rifle: 100, medium damage, can shoot straight, up, or even down when in the air.
- Gattling Gun: 200, high damage, slow start up, only weapon that can't be used in the air. I think I will only use this on the Unlucky Swamp Boss but who knows for sure.
- Rocket Launcher: 3, very high damage, homing. Can shoot upwards while standing but don't know how useful it will be.
- Flamethrower: 500, medium damage, ammo drains fast but it fills your Asagi gauge extremely fast.
- Drill: 800, high damage, seems to be the one weapon that benefits from filling the Asagi gauge making it do very high damage. Mashing it to re-use keeps it out.
- CAT: 1 in each stage, on pickup you are forced to use it as your next attack, using it makes your rating fill up to 100%. Want to avoid.
- Guitar: 1 in each stage, on pickup you are forced to use your Super attack to get rid of it, using it fills up your gauge. Really want to avoid.

9 hours and 8 hours left (2nd and 3rd variations) are probably the least experimented with in this video as doing the 4th variation 100+ times I learned a bit more. I revisited the 1st variation after everything.
I did the first 2 of every stage before doing all of Sakura palace, but I may revisit them now that I know more about Asagi mode.
My split timing is shown in the first stage, there is no stage select in Asagi mode.
Google doc with current times: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Prdvhc8lgAZr5tERmm5diHOtmw05VaScq0NcNhayV9g/edit?usp=sharing
Emulator used PPSSPP Version 1.5.4. Tools used: OBS Studio, Livesplit and Gamepadviewer.
Will experiment with other PPSSPP Versions more before the full Asagi run to try to get more accurate loading times.
