Formerly Marines Never Surrender, but I always figured that name was too vanilla.
So there you are, Doomguy. You've been through Hell and back at least 85 times. Now you're on dear old Earth and all you want is peace and quiet. To the surprise of everyone who knows you, you decide to become a barista, because after all, who doesn't love a delicious cup of coffee? Some say that your customer-service skills are a little rough around the edges -- service with a scowl -- but at least you haven't killed anyone yet. Then one day a dimensional portal opens and out pops a gang of Hellspawn, right in front of your barista cart! They wreck it, trash all your various coffees and special additives, and then proceed to beat you from one side of the street to the other. Oh, if only you had your trusty SSG!
You pick yourself up, examine your bloodsoaked body in a reflective window, and your fury spirals up. You can't let these Hellspawn jagoffs get away with this! So off you go to your apartment, where you grab a pistol and a bit of ammo. Not much to fight this gang, but you've been through worse. You hear about a facility north of town where strange things are happening, and some people have even disappeared. Human sacrifice, most likely. You know this drill. So off you go on the trail of the Hellspawn, with blood in your eye and a curse on your breath. They'll be sorry when you catch up with them!
Don't worry, there's no IoS fight.
This map has been sitting on my HD long enough. It was originally completed in 2013 for the Doomworld Team Map-Making Project led by @Yukarin, then known as Sgt. Dopey. Alas, that project died, leaving this map an orphan. This is one of 2 maps I did with @PhantomTMac. Both were big, so if you like large maps with several secrets and some big fights, this might be up your alley. This map was ultimately slated as Map11 for Realm of Chaos 2, under the title Marines Don't Cry, but in the long run, even after a lot of revision, we decided to replace it with a smaller map using the same title.
After wondering what to do with this vicious brute, I decided the best option was a standalone release. So here it is. I hope some peeps give it a test to see if there's any last-minute glitches before I throw it up on idgames.
