On to Chapter 2. The early part of this game has some rough pulls, that feels like it requires either a bit of luck with dodging on the forts or a whooole lot of retreating, and I hate that retreating playstyle so I usually take my chances on the forts. And sometimes need to use save states as a result.

The edges of the screen are cut off a bit for these upcoming videos, because the wrong settings were set when I went to record this. Sorry about that, it gets fixed a few videos later.

This stage, we get The Dieck's party. The Dieck is usually one of the best characters in the game, and he can serve as a more reliable crutch if you promote him immediately. That's honestly not a bad choice for how difficult the early stages can be, but I avoided doing it. And I should have, since I ended up benching The Dieck way later when he was falling behind everyone else after getting RNG screwed on his Str. But usually, and especially in regular FE6 where there aren't as many usable units, he's invaluable for the whole game due to his high Con and gaining axes on promotion.

Shanna starts the game with a Wing Spear, which makes her far more viable than she usually is in FE6. Usually her low Con and Str growth just means she can't kill and can't double if using a weapon that would give her enough damage to kill. She still has this issue, but having a Wing Spear (a lightweight spear with effectiveness on calvary and armor) certainly helps mitigate the issue. She can probably pay off if you keep putting work into her, but I'd say it's better to hold out for her sister. That said, I'm using her as much as possible so I can make sure to go to the Ilia stages this run, as I always ended up going the Sacae stages when it came to the route split. Which route you take later in the game is determined by if the Pegasus Knights or Nomad units have more EXP, and usually the Nomads are waaaaay better than the Pegasus Knights so you likely won't go the Ilia route without deliberately trying to make it happen.

We also get Wade and Lott, two axe users. They're both good in their own right, but I favor Wade since he hits harder and is faster. Mages aren't that much of an issue and Lott's main benefit is his higher Res. But honestly, you could just use both. the main reason I stopped using Lott is just because deploy limits kept me from deploying him at certain points and he ended up falling behind.
