Nvidia have just announced a new handheld gaming device (Project Shield as it is currently known) which will be an Android based gaming system, using the Tegra 4 processor and capable of displaying games on its 5" screen at 720P.
We don't know the amount of RAM or the processor speed of the Tegra 4 that is being used in Project Shield yet, but Nvidia have gone on record and said that it will be a quad core that is going to be built using a 28nm manufacturing process. We also know it'll feature 72 GPU cores (CUDA).
In addition to the 5" 720P screen, the system will be able to output to up to 4k devices, and will do so using a HDMI port that is built in.
The system will have access to the Android marketplace from google, and will be able to stream games from your local home PC using the built in Wi-Fi network in your home. To do this, your system will need a Nvidia Geforce graphics card, along with Steam. It has also been confirmed that it will have excellent video play back and Project Shield will have superb battery life.
