Proof of Concept: LIGHTNING DOESN'T NEED BREAK [DFFOO]
Moving forward, there will be several fights with [mBRV Floor] mechanics on the bosses, i.e. enemy BRV can't go below certain number, can't be broken, and immune to instant-breaks.
One such event is Divine Leviathan. Coming tomorrow as of uploading this video. Safer Sephiroth also has the same mechanic.
What does this mean for break-reliant characters like Lightning? Usually it's bad. She loses access to her consecutive turns, and also her high turn rate, because they're all tied to breaking and/or attacking a broken target.
But, that also opens her up to cool gimmick like the one showcased in this video!
Required:
- [Aura] buff from Selphie (can be from CA/LDCA) -- bring a buff extender if done via calls
- Speed passives removed -- but this might not be necessary for Divine Leviathan because of its 2T delay aura. Will further test it out tomorrow.
With this setup, Lightning can go: EX, S2 (free), EX, S2, EX, S2, EX, S2, ad infinitum. Zero skill charges spent in the process, all while increasing her damage-per-turn!
I've been wanting to try out this setup ever since I saw JP's release of Leviathan, and I finally got to test it! Divine Ramuh was chosen because he has Thunder absorb, so it allows me to somewhat emulate the "no break" situation. Damage is lower vs Ramuh because Lightning is doing 0 BRV DMG, but against Leviathan, she'll be doing good BRV DMG because of Thunder weakness!
My team for tomorrow is not finalized yet, but I'll use a variant of this build for sure~
Thank you for watching and see you in the next one!

Resources Frequently Used
Dissidia Compendium: https://dissidiacompendium.com/
Complete database of character skills/gears/buffs and bestiary.
My favorite site when I need to look for cold hard numbers.
Dissidia Database V2: https://www.dissidia.dev/
Very neat Party Viewer and Status List. Bestiary also available.
The site has many features, but I tend to associate V2 with "debuff percentages".
I usually check this site for CA values and party building for future events.
Tonberry Troupe: https://www.tonberrytroupe.com/
Detailed character infographics and how-to-play. Fight research.
Plenty of beginner guides.
Dissidia Info: http://dissidiainfo.com/
Home of boss guides, fight mechanics, and Call To Arms spreadsheets.
Very useful site if you're ever stuck in an event.
There are many more community resources for DFFOO, but these four are the ones I usually use!
