Today I recovered from my tape archives unpublished footage of the PS3 prototype console from its 2005 reveal... there are two parts to this, the first is from E3 2005, but NOT the SCEA conference you've seen before -- this is from the little-known SCEE conference the day after (on-site in a secret room at the LA Convention Center), which was essentially for anyone who couldn't get into the waaaay maxed-out SCEA one lol (although we always found a way to go to both)... far fewer people attended, let alone recorded, the SCEE event -- and you can bet no one still has any recordings from it -- but to be fair, it wasn't just a poor man's "SCEA rerun", as speakers often had a chance to go off script and show/say different things than the day before -- like in this video, Ken Kutaragi talks a bit more about the PS3 'mock up' or 'concept' controller... I am quite certain that footage from this session has never been published anywhere before (except for a few seconds used in our own E3 2005 summary video at the time). The second part is a few months later at Tokyo Game Show 2005 -- we got a closer look at the prototype system (slimmer than the final design... the "original" PS3 slim, if you will) and the infamous PS3 prototype controller, before it was replaced with the final "SixAxis" controller design the following year and eventually for the PS3 launch in 2006. Again these are all my recordings for Kikizo.com but never published before. I hope they give you a nice look at the early version of PS3 -- which I think was gorgeous.
