Here's something special: Recently we experimented with running the PS4 Dynamic Theme SDK in true 4K, 3840x2160. This is the result: our PS1 Legacy dashboard theme in native 4K, running at 60 fps.

The console theme software does not run the dashboard at 4K, rather it upscales content that is rendered internally at 1080p (hence why themes that claim to be "true 4K" are not, and why we only mark our themes as "4K friendly" or "ready". They will upscale cleanly, but are not native).

This sequence has been captured running entirely in the theme software SDK on a development workstation. It is not prerendered, nor is it being processed by a game engine. No post-processing has been done on this video, so blemishes are certainly going to be visible. Rather, this will allow you to see the kind of details that went into designing this theme, which has been packed into an incredibly small memory and GPU footprint.

Lastly, of note, I want to stress that this theme is actuality not finished, as we have omitted certain elements of final polish. It will remain incomplete unless we ever have the opportunity to release it, which I would not count on. Again, we have neither the rights nor the mandate to release such a theme at this time, rather this is a project driven by our commitment, as fans, to getting the most out of this obscure corner of the PS4 platform.
