[PS1] Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess Trial Ver. | リトルプリンセス マール王国の人形姫2体験版 Playthrough
Here's my playthrough of the rare standalone trial version of "Little Princess: Marl Oukoku no Ningyou-Hime 2" (known as "Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess"), a role-playing game developed by Nippon Ichi Software for the Sony PlayStation. The playable demo was also bundled with "Marl Oukoku no Ningyou-hime: The Adventure of Puppet Princess +1" and on "Dengeki PlayStation D25".

In the playable trial demo, players take the role of Princess Kururu, the daughter of our favorite puppeteer, Cornet. Upon starting the game, players start from the beginning of Marl's Castle before meeting Great Zolbaref and his soldiers. Defeating him or being defeated in battle ends the playable demo.
There's also plenty of prototype and exclusive content in the trial demo:
- An entirely different and depressing looking Marl Tree, which the player cannot climb.
- The voice dialogue for Cornet when Kururu is reading her letter was re-recorded in the retail version.
- There's no circular effect on the screen when Kid Ledgem awakes.
- Kururu's "Higi Mueizan" is unfinished. There's no black screen and Kururu doesn't speak after she inflicts damage.
- You don't encounter the human versions of both Sharte and Terra. The puppets are already in your party.
- The HUD lifebar was originally a solid sky blue color.
- Kururu and her party has 1999 Ic in the demo.
- The puppet's spells were a lot quicker compared to the retail version.
- The battle victory and Ic fonts were different.
- Different statues inside the castle.
- A completely different background when battling the toads.
- The BGM "RUN! RUN! RUN!" does not play when being confronted by the soldiers.
- The woman NPC in the castle entrance after meeting Etoile is not present in the trial version.
- The "Feels so good!" puppet on the upper right side of the guest room is nowhere to be found.
- Both Crea and Cello are found exclusively in the trial version inside the Castle's guest rooms upstairs.
- The BGM "BIG BATTLE" does not play during the battle with Zolbaref.
- When Zolbaref is defeated, the camera was positioned more to the right side of the screen.
Availability for the standalone trial version of Little Princess: Marl Oukoku no Ningyou-Hime 2 has become pretty rare as of late, with only a few listings showing up on Yahoo Auctions and Mercari. For the cheaper route, you can find it on the second disc of "Marl Oukoku no Ningyou-Hime +1" and on "Dengeki PlayStation D25".
Played on actual Sony PlayStation (SCPH-9001) hardware and captured via a GV-USB2 capture device using S-Video. No emulation was used during the making of this video.
