Golden Axe is a fantasy-themed hack and slash game developed and published by Sega. It was originally released for the arcade in 1989 and later ported to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1990. The game was included in the Sega Ages 2500 series, which is a collection of classic Sega games that were re-released for the PlayStation 2 in Japan. The PS2 version of Golden Axe features updated graphics and new gameplay modes, such as a "Trial" mode where players must defeat as many enemies as possible within a time limit.
