After several months of playing, replaying, editing and encoding, I'm finally done with the Metal Gear Solid game I actually like the most; Peace Walker.

This is the HD-remake for the PS3, which features improved gameplay graphics and upscaled cutscenes.

In the Metal Gear universe, this game comes after Snake Eater and Portable Ops, and we continue to follow Big Boss on his eventual fall into madness. This time we will actually build the first version of Outer Heaven (though not the one Snake infiltrates in Metal Gear), whee!

Since the game was originally released for the PSP, it has been simplified a lot to work with the clumsy controls, which means it is dead easy on the PS3 with a real controller. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the difficulty either, except to turn off some aiming assists (which I do). The enemies are still next to blind and deaf, though.

This game has the best gameplay to cutscene ratio of all Metal Gears, with most of the codec conversations moved to optional "briefing files". I still listen to the mission-specific ones before each mission, so at times it may get a bit slow, I'm afraid. There are also tons of optional missions, called Extra Ops (128, actually). I do most of the ones that are unlocked during the story, to improve my base, but in the endgame there is a ridiculous amount of repeat missions that I've removed, leaving almost only the ones that result in acquired items.

The main story is five chapters plus an intro, although the fifth chapter is actually kind of hidden, so some people may not have even played it. Credits actually roll after both chapter four and five which is kind of confusing. The bonus file contains the post game cleanup, with lots of acquired weapons, some monster hunting, superbosses, showing off some weird and/or powerful weapons and all the briefing files I left out of the story (about five hours!). Unfortunately I couldn't show the co-op weapons which are hilarious, sorry about that. -
