Playing the Episode mode for Jack-O' in Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator. New character Jack-O' is a new--to me, anyway--type of gimmick character in a fighting game, dropping sort of RTS-style spawn-over-time monster generators onto the playfield; if you opponent doesn't destroy them, they will spawn various little imps that attack your opponent independently, not doing a whole lot of harm individually, but adding up to a significant distraction, which can give you a big edge in the battle. The AI doesn't seem to concentrate all that hard on destroying the imp generators you put down, so while the rounds can be tricky in their early going, by the end you often kind of win by a landslide as your swarm of imps pretty nearly reduces the enemy character to a standstill, leaving them a sitting duck for your own direct attacks. It's a twist I've never seen before for a fighting game character, and I thought at first it would be too abstract or complicated, but it works surprisingly well, and I had a lot of fun with it. Plus those imps are just so darn cute. (You can also issue a command that causes all your generators to self-destruct, hopefully catching the enemy character in their explosions.)
