PS4 Gentoo Linux Cemu settings for running Mario Kart 8 - Sunday 6th March 2022
Updated Cemu to 1.26.2f from 1.25.2.
Downloaded latest graphics packs
Using 1GB Video memory and 6GB System memory.
But PS4 controller settings were stuffed up. Sticks were up when they were supposed to be down and vice versa. Tried to fix them in game, but it stuffed up. Should have exited Cemu, reopened and then fixed, then run the game.
I've also left the FPS frames per second in the top right corner for the purposes of this video. I don't have all of the shader cache files so occasionally the game will freeze. Haven't bothered to hunt them down.
My recommendations to get this working, and how I run it.
1. I usually use Night King, but it was stuffing up after multiple memory errors and kernel panic turn offs. So I tried Karo.
2. I have a PS4 Pro so in the left USB slot I have my Linux drive. In the right USB slot I have a 3-port USB hub. In that hub I have a USB keyboard plugged in, a wireless keyboard USB receiver with a touchpad for mouse movement and my PS4 controller plugged in.
3. Once Karo runs successfully, exit the browser using the PS button. Don't turn off the internet even though it says to.
4. Re-enter the browser. Go back into Karo and choose the 1GB Linux option.
5. My PS4 sometimes kernel panics and turns off.
6. If it's successful it should boot straight to Gentoo Linux with POST. Mine blackscreens but still works as I can see my Linux drive flashing and the black screen still shows.
7. I have to unplug the HDMI port, then re-plug it back in and do the CTRL+ALT+F2 trick on the keyboard to switch the display out then back in, then it works. (Thanks Modded Warfare for the tip)
8. Open Cemu.
9. You should have internet, so check for updates and update if necessary.
10. Check for graphics packs and download if necessary.
11. Follow my set up of the CPU etc and other settings.
12. Find and download the latest shader cache if you can.
Things you can try if yours is running badly.
1. Ensure your Linux drive is USB 3.0 speed
2. Download the largest shader cache that you can find
3. Use the same settings as me within Cemu
4. Try a higher video memory such as 2GB, 3GB or even higher
