The PS4 / Playstation 4 has now been officially confirmed by Sony at their Playstation Meeting 2013, taking place right now. They have confirmed several rumors / details on the next gen PS4 console, including the new Dualshock 4 controller. One detail confirmed about the new pad is the share button, as well as the touchpad and earphone / headphone jack. Also confirmed is a new fine tuned rumble and a light panel along the top for a sensor bar included with the PS4 to detect the controller's movement, probably for motion sensor / sensing based games. Also changed is the design of the left and right trigger buttons, and the new controller has apparently addressed controller latency issues.
On the console, though, it seems as if Sony has been paying attention to the PC market, as they are claiming to be keen for developers to embrace new business models that enable more flexibility including episodic games and free to play.
For the tech and specs nerds out there, the Playstation 4 next gen console will apparently house highly enhanced PC GPU, X86 CPU and 8GB of unified system memory.
