If you uploaded in anything besides 720/1080p30, you'll want to store your videos locally, otherwise you'll have to get them back through Google Takeout. And getting them back through Google Takeout means having *ALL* of your channel zipped up and shipped back to you, in original upload format.


Yeah...


So preserve quality and optimize space using h.265. Davinci isn't really gonna like it, but you can always bring it back to h.264 and go on your way with edits. (HEVC codecs might help but honestly I've had crap luck getting some to import)


Trust me. When you realized your video needs an edit and you can't... you'll gladly wait that extra transcode to archive it and have it on hand.
