Gameplay: 6/10
The platforming is alright. It's a slightly better version of the original game's movement, if I recall correctly. There's some jank in it too for sure, but especially in the ability selection. If I had to compare it to something else that would make it better, it would be to have something like how in Scarlet Nexus, where you can switch between two sets of abilities with a button press. That would help in situations where you need more than your regular set of abilities, without the need of pausing the game to get the right stuff. Also, the collectathon gameplay format doesn't break any new ground. In fact it's exactly the same as the first game for better or worse, just with more incentive to do it with the ranking system. I personally find it boring to irritating when stuff is either hidden too well or I swing the camera at just the right angle to miss something.

Story: 8.5/10
For such a simple story at the start, things get so off the rails in a very entertaining way. They even address questions from the first game and tie it all off well, even it they don't reflect it in the gameplay post-story. Honestly I did not see the final twists coming at all. Even with Lili's very subtle hint that finally makes sense to me after the fact.

Sound: 8/10
An all orchestral soundtrack is always, even if the OST probably won't stick with me for long after. The voice acting is probably the best part. It's weird though, because the acting comes off as a little forced, but in a way that gives it a cheesy cartoon feel to it. And that feeling is so consistent that I can't call the style bad. Sound effects work for what they do.

Graphics: 8/10
Psychonauts is very good at looking, for lack of a better way to describe it, bad. The quality of the models look not that great, as is probably expected when working with an art style like this. However, the characters are all incredibly unique looking, and are just horrifying sometimes. The real world environment are just OK looking, but the brain worlds are crazy to look at. And sometimes seizure inducing.

Other Stuff:
If you wanna go for 100%, there's that. I don't know if the game has other modes.

Overall: 7.6/10
I enjoyed my time with this game, the story and characters were pretty great, the game looks like you'd expect, and the gameplay wants to make me play something else sometimes. It's worth a playthrough for people that like quirky humor. It's probably worth playing through the first game before this one for context and a feel for some of the characters and lore.

I dunno what I wanna play next. Probably Cave Story. Never beat that one.
