I'm amazed that after 15 years the sequel fits perfectly. Everything good about the previous are still good here. The characters, voice actors, themes, stages. Even the fragments are so clearly distinct now. The plus is that now the gameplay is really solid. If I were to whine, then the 2 things worse off are the upgrades and length of mental worlds.

Upgrades are really boring. The only marginally good one is the big jump with levitation, but even that is only a little better than the double jump. Especially because you can't get any momentum out of it. The dark thoughts is just for completionists, it's a disappointment. And most other stuff are just super small damage/duration increases. The cap upgrade of no cooldown on 102 is a nice sprinkle, but I'll never get it.

Mental worlds are interesting, the themes and layouts are interesting. Of course given, that they've made the first game, it's sadly not as impressive, but the visuals make make them an enjoyment to play. Now the length however is weird. I feel a tad bit tedium at the end of every stage. As everything has to be done three times. It feels a little padded out. And again it's not bad, it's just a little monotonous. Of course I would've liked them to be a little shorter and probably some more worlds instead. But as a whole it's not that big of a deal. The length thing does allow you to at least comprehend fully what needs to be done. Like boss fights, by the end you get exactly how the mechanics work. As opposed to most likely fumbling the first phase.

Apart from that it's really solid. Now depending on the length of the game, the price might be a little steep, so wait for a discount, I don't think this will last 20h.

A note to all the quality of life features. Like target firing even when not locking on. The magnet like sticking to surfaces when on a tight rope or sliding or walls etc. Really makes all the platforming so much better. It's so pleasant to play. It's still stupid easy, but I don't think difficulty is that important with this game.
