Developer PUBG Corporation has announced that Season 9 of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is out today, October 21, for PC and October 29 for PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One. It's a substantial update that adds a brand-new map alongside the new ranked season, as well as a survival pass. Smaller changes, including new skins, quality-of-life improvements, and new tricks for getting the best gear, are also available as part of the update. You can read the full Season 9 patch notes below, which also includes information on a new currency, weapon balance changes, regional matchmaking changes, and mission improvements.
The new map is Paramo, a land surrounded by clouds in the South American highlands. It's a 3x3 map with a "dynamic world" that's constantly evolving. The locations of major landmarks change between matches. Rivulets of molten lava flow across the map, providing a new obstacle for you to avoid. And the map itself, should you find yourself outside the Blue Zone, deals extra damage and may result in instant death. It should put your skills as a survivalist to the test, but those who are clever can get some advantages on their opponents and potentially set up dangerous killboxes.
