Continuing my journey to finish Poppet Quest, a game about cursed dolls stuck in the world’s most haunted attic. The game’s made in RPG Maker MZ, and you’ll see me push this engine well past its limits. Sure I could use another engine, but well I already started and sunk cost fallacy won’t let me stop. ;)

So swing on by, say hi, and glory in seeing someone completely misuse an engine to make a game that should have by all rights been made in something else. I’m here to help answer the question, “Could it be done in RPG Maker?” Absolutely! But should it be? Well I’ll let you decide.

About the game:
Poppet Quest is a 2D/2.5D action RPG where you play as Poppet, a spirit stuck inside a cursed doll trying to free herself and the other toys from the world’s most cursed attic. With the help of a ghost of a Harlequin girl trapped in the paintings named Tinka, she travels into the paintings and across the attic to solve the mysteries of the world’s most cursed attic. How did they get there? Who was she before? What brings the toys to life? Who made them?

So many questions, so few answers. But armed with a trusty book of spells, and no real issues with destroying what gets in her way. She sets out to find her answers, and hopefully salvation for herself and whatever toys are left standing afterwards. It’s just another night in the Attic.
