Puzzle Bobble was released in Japanese arcades in 1994 for Taito's own hardware and later for the Neo Geo under the name Bust-a-Move in North America. The gameplay is not too far off from many other puzzle games where the player is tasked with matching up colored objects (in this case bubbles) to earn big points (as well as adding unwanted bubbles to an opponents screen in vs. mode).
