Hello and welcome back to Pwnery's Penny Arcade and the First 30 of Hero's Hour - a delightfully charming little pixel-art RTS battle strategy game that harkens back to games like Warcraft 1, 2, maybe 3 or if you really want to hit the way back machine, Dune 2000. I'm not joking, when I say "little" - this game is about 100MB - when's the last time you really heard of that? For such a tiny game, it is bursting at the seams with tons of animations, sprites, classes, attack animations, structures, you name it - it's somehow in there. They somehow managed to capture the essense of every awesome RTS top-down game of the past in one neat little package.

I have been trying to record and get this game featured for over 2 weeks and finally fought my way through a few crashes to bring it to you... new games come with teething issues, but it doesn't take anything away from how brilliant this game really is.

Today's First 30 is actually a triple-feature - I had originally planned on recording only 1 episode but the further I had gotten in (even on the tiniest map campaign), the more I began to realize just how many layers this little onion has. If you like what you see here today, and want to get a copy of the game for yourself, you can download the demo for free, or go ahead and spring for an advanced copy (with what I can only assume is free updates til it hits Steam's store) for the paltry sum of only 10 dollars! Plans are to have it on Steam's store in the near future, but why wait? This game is brilliant and will keep you entertained for hours, if not days or longer. As of the release played in this video, the occasional CTD will happen, but the autosave features will literally let you pick up right where it left you off unexpectedly - a welcome feature.
