0Let me start with, a older viewer wanted to see the game , in full ... we said ok , and in we jumped ... into a game that became a rabbit hole ... why , well Cateia Games pushed this game in 2010 on BigFish under the name "HOTEL" in English... but since BigFish, is a digital service for potato PCs, it was made on a budget ... aka badly translated, missing VO, missing tips, solutions etc... the same year Cateia Games pushed this game also on CD, but only in Germany as "Hotel - Rätsel um Schloss Bellevue" under the Collectors Edition branch with Desktop Pictures\Solutions\fixed story progression\game patched to 1.01\Voice Acting but only in German\Screen Savers and much much more ...
Both versions, the press at that time , bombed hard ... calling it an Awful Broken Sword clone, with a nonsense story ... a adventure that can be beat in 2 to 3 hours ... ouch
In 2013 they remade it under the Brightstone Mysteries IP ... and called it "Brightstone Mysteries: Paranormal Hotel" and ported it to Smartphones\Tablets\PCs with fixed logic and progression to not SUCK HARD... https://cateia.com/game/brightstone_mysteries/ , and here is the trailer of this Remade Remaster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4--G0CmCEvY
So what is this Frankenstein you see here ... its the BigFish version with the VO of the German Version ... the thing is since the GUI was in English , it missed 2 Icons ... so , game is in English but every time you got a Achievement the game Crashed hard since ... it missed the Logic of the German version that used those , to Unlock Concept art\OST\Desktop Background\etc ...

"Remastered / Casual versions explained
Starting August 4th, 2023, you'll see 2 versions of the game when you press play:
Casual Remastered version
Legacy Point and Click version
The "legacy" version is the original game, which is a traditional point and click adventure game, with a movable 3d character on a 2d background.
It is limited to 4:3 aspect ratio and comes only in English and German (full audio with voice acting for German version)
The "casual" version was released in 2013, which has many improvements, but does not have a traditional movable character you would expect a point and click game to have.
The most important improvements the casual version has over the legacy one are as follows:
Widescreen support
More crisp graphics
Interactive hint system
Skip-able mini-games
Support for steam achievements
Support for steam cloud saves
Notes:
The legacy version does not support Steam cloud or Steam achievements!
The Legacy version is only available on Windows. We have some plans to bring it to MacOS and Linux as well, but it's hard to say when or if we'll be able to do that, due to the technical limitations of the engine used in the old version of the game.
Thus, on MacOS, you can only play the Casual version.
And as always, let us know if you have any technical problems playing the game and we'll do our best to fix them asap.
And last but not least, just because the new version is not out, does not mean we'll stop supporting the Legacy version. If you run into trouble, please report it in the forums and we'll check it out."
