Quake 4 - RA jumps on Aerowalk
15Some RA jumps on Aerowalk 2015 remake with Q4max mod. Acceleration is pretty much the same as Q3, but there's a few differences with physics, step-up and step-down are a bit different for example. It's harder to reach up platforms and when you run down stairs your feet won't go off flying like in other Quakes, they stick to the stairs which means you can make a circle jump while going down stairs. You also can't skip through corners, so you need to mind your route. Oh and there's also crouch sliding, very fun.
There's a few versions of Aerowalk in Q4 and I've come across one which is a direct port from Q3, a remake with Q3 textures and a remake with Q4 textures. The Q4 textured one is quite honestly poop, bad performance, annoying/pointless changes and hard as fuck RA platform. I don't know about you guys, but I can't do even the easiest jumps there. Only one I could do was the ramp jump at the end of my video.
One thing I have to note is Quake 4's demo/avi capture is a fucking nightmare. Demo speed is determined by how much FPS you had ingame, which means more FPS = slowmo, less FPS = faster. And as you can imagine this becomes a disaster when you don't have a stable FPS in game, this effect can be seen on the last clip on Mnemjc's Aerowalk remake. Actually, it's very likely that rest of the clips aren't real speed either, but close enough.
