Quake II: Heavy Metal - complete sound remake / overhaul mod Q2HM 2.0 preview
A brief demonstration of the upcoming upgrade to my Q2HM project. This will max out everything that was missing in the first release. Placeholders are removed (Strogg machineguns) and remade from scratch, while the few bad decisions (basic shotgun) are corrected. Some of the older Q2HM FX are being remade or upgraded (like the Railgun, or the health bonus, for example). And a whole slew of new sounds are being introduced. These relate mostly to the Strogg. I have remade the vast majority of Strogg language, if i can call it that. And used a certain strategy to achieve that. All their other FX as well.
Last but not least - no more whimpering from the protagonist!!! Just this modification alone makes a world of difference in the quality of life for the game.
I will prepare a complete presentation with all the details and examples, as well as a more thorough run through one of the levels, letting the Strogg talk and strut all of their new stuff. This one is just a taste, so i made it brief on purpose.
Mod ETA: April 2024 or earlier. That's right - it is very soon. Q2HM is being developed for KMQuake2 sourceport. Further compatibility details are pending. Just as before, stereo 16bit 44khz FX playback
is required, - which is NOT possible with many other sourceports.
P.S. Regarding the "remaster". It has never happened. There is no remaster.
