Qualcomm AllJoyn Peer-to-Peer Technology http://www.netbooknews.com All you need is one device hooked into the sound system and everyone will be able to control the device. It might give your parties an eclectic soundtrack but it will allow everyone to play DJ, the coolest thing about the app it that you can control the hardware of the other device. We got to see the volume control's in action. If you're super keen to see a video CES is only a few months away so we'll keep an eye on their booth to grab you a video demo.

We were able to grab a demo of an application using Alljoyn called Quick Draw, which is a collaborative drawing application. We see a demo of how quickly the devices are able to discover each other and how quickly information is transferred over WiFi.

In terms of gaming, think of how two device could play each other head to head on three different devices, , you would need to know exactly where you opponents are. If you were playing on a network the latency would make the game less competitive, by making the experience real time it opens up a new level of interactivity.

The lucky thing is that even though this is a project sponsored by Qualcomm, AllJoyn is an open-source software system that doesn't actually have to run atop Qualcomm hardware. The biggest bonus for those of us who travel is that there is no data required, so groupsn of people at a conference or on a tour who want to keep tabs on one another's location will be able to without roaming on a foreign network.
