Mostly recorded this video as part of my own job of hyping up the remake for TTYD that was announced a while back. Ya know, it's funny, because I was once convinced we would be more likely to see Mother 3 be localized than to ever see a return to the roots for Paper Mario ever since Sticker Star changed the direction of that IP going forward. I neither expected a remake of TTYD to ever become a reality, nor did I expect a reality in which Super Mario RPG of all things got a remake too, and even is already out now and available as this video is posted.

Such a strange little world we live in, huh? I mean what's next? Quest 64 on N64 NSO:EP? A man could hope, could he not?

Meanwhile, what inspired this video was based off of a re-do of this boss fight I was showing to my friends on Discord in which I first ran through the fight normally, albeit without using the FX Badge which weakened Hooktail, as I did at least a year ago before on a separate playthrough I since lost. This is actually the third time on this very file I wound up redoing the fight. The second time I redid the fight is what inspired me to make the video, because I had managed to use Multibonk with Gombella on the second phase of the fight to deal the remainder of Hooktail's half restored HP in a single combo. Of course I almost managed to do that again here, but I admitted to those who watched my second fight that my ability to pull that off was nothing short of a fluke; something I got lucky with the timing on to be able to do as much as I did.

As for why Mario was mostly in a support role here? I knew most of the fight could be carried by an upgraded Goombella, and I mostly had to worry about making sure Mario didn't get KO'd so carelessly because if he gets KO'd, the battle is lost, but with Goombella at the front line, Mario's survival only really needed to consider Hooktail's fire breath to get past.
