Quick Look | Divide (2017) a good hard scifi story with awful controls
a good hard scifi story with awful controls ... or how you should not , build games with only one control scheme ... or how a console controls scheme does not translate well in a PC KB&M environment ... or how all this could have been avoided if this game was controlled by a mouse point and click interface ...
Divide , is a tough nut to crack ... has awful forced pad controls that try to simulate eye moment ... but in reality its Gui interaction is horrible (even with thumb sticks , some would say if this would have been a mouse only game, it would have been a better product ) ... has a strong story aspect that overshadows the game , with over dragged to extremes of Metal Gear Solid 4 cutscenes that want to stuff your head with so much info ... "See this , Now you have to care about this ... and this " (not to mention , you are stunned there with no possibility to move ... at least in MGS4 you could change the camera )... a game that did not knew what it should be ... more like a Adventure with a crisis what it wanted to portray ... or more like a Good Hard Scifi story that did not knew how to present itself ... in what form ,should we translate this script to be amusing and engaging ... and Divide the game , became out of it ...
...a Exploration adventure with puzzle elements ... with identity crisis , crappy controls, good sound score , ok story line about Augmented Reality but boring presentation... and a day one patch to fix the looping credits bug ...
It became a product ... with high ambitions with solid script ... but meh execution ... on to the next game
