3Back in the Dos era, we had games that where the quintessence of the survival genre... The Robinson's Requiem games and its continuation Deus ... games made by Silmarils a company that pushed the boundaries of game entertainment, by adding real human emotions to games ... also dependence on sleep/food/water etc. to them, making those a real life experience then a game... a game world with NPCs that behaved like real people ... Ishar was like that
But then they went into 3D ... and at that time, back in the 1995 ... it was a development hell to go into 3D, when there where no engines around like today ... they made few 3d games that where ok but ... too clunky and bankrupted
They disappearance created this big hole , a genre that was not touched by anyone.... it gathered dust .... and that's why Minecraft is so successful ... and when something is too popular, our social media connected society creates clones to leach the glory... and money
and now WELCOME to The Long Dark ... a game that wanted to be different then those thousand other clones like Minecraft before... a survival story in a world of snow ... from this Alpha i can say ... i like what i saw ... and will gladly buy the retail version when it comes out ...
