Zeus presents R-Type - 128k version (un-emulated) for the Amstrad CPC6128, a very nice update of an arcade classic which should not be forgotten alongside the programmers that were involved in making this game.

Year of release: 2012

Well It's no secret that R-Type was a classic shooter even though it was a bloody hard one, and no'one can't say that the ZX Spectrum version was a wonderful conversion even though sadly there was never a 128k version, I also was very impressed with the Amiga version, the amstrad version however was a quick dull port of the classic ZX version.
Roll years ahead and now we have this very nice 128k version by Easter Egg.
Included is a nice intro, very nice soundtrack, nice sound fx and all 8 levels including a sectret level (level 0) which can be accessed by diving into the mouth of the Mother ship on level 3 (which is included in this upload - see time listings below).
Animation / Scrolling is a little jerky which shows on both real hardware and emulation but It's certainly not enough to ruin the enjoyment of the game but the size of the playing field is a little small which seems to be the usual trend on Amstrad games.
Those issues aside It's a very nice update indeed and one of the jewels amoungst Ammy fans.
I have used the invincibility option from the secret cheat menu in the game so I could upload the entire game for your viewing pleasure,...I did make a bit of a hash during level 3 Mother ship which shows quite clearly I'm using the invincy cheat.
