R TYPE Arcade-ZX Spectrum VS C64, Amstrad + Commodore Amiga VS ST + PC ENGINE-SMS-GAMEBOY comparison
R Type by IREM features in this VS game / system comparison, released by Irem in the arcades in 1987 and then released onto the home systems for 8 Bit and 16 Bit home computers. The console releases soon followed and this is a title that still gets a run out on the many Retro Game systems to this day. Simply put one of the best arcade shoot em ups you will find that is a proven retro classic.
I am taking a look at the 8 Bit systems of the day but will also compare the 16 Bit computer conversions too and then take a look and some of the initial 8 Bit console releases of the day.
So lets take a look firstly at R Type on the original Arcade followed by the 8 Bit systems featuring:
Commodore 64
Sinclair ZX Spectrum
Amstrad CPC
And then the 16 Bit systems featuring:
Commodore Amiga
Atari ST
And finally the 8 Bit console systems featuring:
Sega Master System
PC Engine
Nintendo Gameboy
