Played this since I was told this is the definitive R-Type experience on GB. People who have spread this claim clearly did not actually play through this game. Really feels like this game shows what's wrong with the GBC library, things released with no quality check... I mean this was even published by Nintendo. I get the impression that they really did not give a shit and just wanted to release as many games as possible for GBC to try and justify owning one/sell as many before GBA comes out. I have seen footage of R-Type I and II on original GB and they look like significantly better games, all this release did was ruin those games. There are like 20 invisibile bullets on screen at once in this game (Stage 10 boss... absolutely ridiculous) clearly just not a functional game making this the worst shmup I've ever played. Invisible bullets is the ONE THING that should NEVER be in these games. I'm actually hard to disappoint when it comes to shmups, I like even the ones that are considered kind of lousy-- StarHawk or Xenon 2 for example. This is just straight up the worst I've ever played. I can't believe this game reviewed as well as it did and it really shows that they simply didn't play it through. Play OG R-Type's on GB, SKIP DX. Sadly this was such a bad experience I will not even check out the OG releases.
