R-Type Final - Stage 6.1 Beautiful Erasure with the Legendary R9 - Bydo
This stage played in Score Attack on Bydo difficulty with the R9A Arrowhead.
My thoughts on the stage are below, if anyone is interested.
I'd been thinking about this for a long time, playing each stage with the R9. In the past I'd gotten used to powerful ships like the Leo and Leo II. Not anymore. I played most of the stages on Bydo difficulty, and while some of them were quite rough, they were definitely manageable.
- Of note in stage 6.1 is that this is strictly just a boss battle in a tiny circular room. Not a whole lot of space to maneuver, and you've got rocks dropping from overhead, so it's very tight.
- The boss, Nomemayer drops rocks, some of which contain POW Armors, so it's very easy to get powered up in this stage.
- Given that this room is circular, the R9's yellow weapon works very well here, because the beams will eventually crawl around and strike the boss and also help destroy the rocks that form behind you.
- If you take too long here, the room eventually starts to contract, which will force you close to the boss, and death. I had this happen on one of my practice runs with the R9. I'd always killed it too fast for this to happen, so it was fairly interesting.
- This is Bydo space, and when you finish the boss, the white sparkles of light form around your ship and you become a Bydo, usually Bydo System Alpha - though if you're using a Bydo ship already, you become the Metallic Dawn. Afterward, you're sent to stage F-B Summer Night.
*I love this ship, which is why it gets its own playlist. I played most of the stages on Bydo difficulty with the classic R-Type, and I got through each stage without dying.
