Raiden V 1CC on Normal - Ace Pilot
One credit clear of the North American version of Raiden V through all of the S-Rank stages on Normal difficulty. I do not fight the TLB in this run.
Stage 2 5:52
Stage 3 11:54
Stage 4 19:29
Stage 5 27:09
Stage 6 35:10
Stage 7 42:58
Stage 8 52:39
Ending - edited out because I mistakenly pressed A to prompt the text to continue and it skipped to the credits. I only had half of it, so I edited them both out. It was Ending C.
*I like the Spirit of Dragon ship because it only loses 13% Shield when you take a hit and it's got the strongest attack power. I'm also comfortable with its movement speed. I use the Homing Plasma so I can fire and forget while focusing on dodging. You will notice me position the plane to make sure the missiles land on high priority targets, since they fire straight ahead.
**This is the best shoot em up I've played since R-Type Delta in 2008, and it fell into my life right when I needed it to. I was messing around on tvtropes.org on February 21st, 2017 and I decided to look up the Raiden games. I nearly jumped out of my chair when I saw that there was a fifth game. I turned on my XB1 and downloaded it right away, and I played nearly every single day until the date of this upload. February 21st was the date of my first achievement. I 1cc'd the game on April 20th, 2017, unlocking the Miklas, Operation 8 Stage 8: Boss Defeated!, Gallery Complete, Veteran, and Ace Pilot achievements. My leaderboard score at the very end is from that date. =)
I love shoot em up games, and although I generally play horizontal scrollers, I have always had a soft spot for the Raiden series. As for the kind of skills and reflexes a game like this demands, I was 36 years old in 2017, and I still have them, yes I do.
There are generally three things I need to do well in a shmup, in this order - 1) memorization, 2) skill, 3) some luck. As I said, I'd played Raiden V for a little over two months when I recorded this. Memorization and skill I had, but holy hell, starting from especially stage 5, some luck comes into play when you see bullets that I think rightly should have killed me instead graze right through the plane. Thank god that Raiden's hitbox is as small as it is. I don't care - the game dictates that I didn't get hit, so it's a win, however I feel. I still get nerves from recording stuff like this, trying to play well, knowing that it's going to be uploaded, so I can live with it.
Did you know - according the XBox website, only 1.04% of gamers have unlocked the Ace Pilot (clear the game without continuing and passing through all S-Routes) achievement as of April 23rd, 2017? Really? 1cc'ing a shmup is the only way I feel that I've truly won.
Raiden V is, to me, the game of the PS/XB1 generation. Nothing else I've played has been this good.
Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoyed. =)

Much better - and the stage 8 boss takes much more damage from the Vulcan, a fact I learned and worked into my strategy after I recorded the original video. =)
