Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear (PS1) Gameplay
This is just some gameplay of the PS1 port of Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear. It's played on a PS2 with texture smoothing on.
You know, for all the horror stories I heard about the PS1 ports of the R6 games, this port is actually perfectly playable. That is from what I've played of it. It obviously doesn't hold a candle to the PC original, or any other console ports of this game, but it's still decent for what it is.
From the reviews, I thought the game would be an unplayable mess, but am surprised to see a playable port of the game. I'm not saying that you should run out and get this particular port, but if you are still a PS1 enthusiast, and find it for cheap (or for free like I did from a friend), or had the PS1 port back in the day, and are looking for some nostalgia, then it's worth killing some time with.
I like to see what developers can do when they port a game like this to an underpowered system. Even if it's not the best version, I still like playing ports like this. It's interesting to see what the devs do to make it even playable.
I believe this game is available on PSN, but I couldn't suggest it unless you own most of the numerous better PS1 games on that list.
NOTE: I'm just taking my time in the first level. I could have easily rescued the hostages, and left, but I wanted to kill all the bad guys too.
