Random Rants: Anti Vaccination Attitude
23Before you ask, yes, there was an accident with a four-year-old child and a bottle of ancient hair dye. Trust me, you don't want to know.
There are dumb ideas and stupid people all over the world, and it seems to me that certain individuals embody the worst of both.
So it is with the greedy asshole that is Andrew Wakefield, who kicked off the most dangerous scare in human history, the final death toll from which will not be known for centuries.
He signed the death warrants of potentially billions of children with a bloody typewriter for less than half a million pounds sterling. The diagnostic manuals changed, and of course the hucksters were all over it like white on rice.
Autism: The word alone strikes fear into the heart of every parent. That increasing numbers of kids are given the label, everyone worries that his or her child will be next.
While I can't tell you what causes it, nor how to cure it. Neither can Dr. Wakefield, despite having diagnostic kits all ready to go to market in the wake of his vile, reprehensible paper.
That Hollywood stars without a brain cell are flogging this thing isn't so much shocking as saddening. They know not whereof they speak, and like all of us need to take the time to do the homework prior to opening their yaps.
The reason we haven't had many videos lately is the entire pile of us doing exactly that. We dug and we dug, evaluated evidence, checked the criticisms of this paper and that, and pored through some of the most disgusting things ever to befoul the bilges of the Internet to bring you just fourteen and a half minutes of Wren ranting about what kind of shit has gone on in the last sixteen years.
I could devote this channel to debunking this crap, and still never get through it all. So this video is mostly an introduction to the topic, as well as a bit of history and an argument or six on the merits of vaccination.
No, they're not a hundred percent safe, and cannot be made so. However, these things are studied and scrutinized well beyond that required of any other medication, and side effects are rare.
Even if you catch an adverse effect that the studies missed (and even the people making them admit to this), careful observation and immediate reporting to medical services can minimize the effects, and go on to save thousands of others that might be injured.
It sure as hell beats the alternative.
This time, I've included a portion of the sources that were drawn on in the making of this video, so you can see the ups and downs of vaccination from the people who make these things, and sometimes suffer the slings and arrows of those who would destroy everything we as a global society have worked so hard to build. I do this not to undermine my own argument, or to give ammunition to the anti-crowd, but so that you, the viewer, can see what you're in for. The benefits to us as a species are incredible, and what few risks there are pale in comparison.
I have not included the material from the Anti-crowd. I'm not dodging them, or their arguments, but there are some things that cannot be un-clicked. A google search will show you a plethora of arguments, bullshit, hucksters, and snake-oil salesmen on the first page alone.
There were millions of hits, and we didn't even scratch the surface. An exhaustive review of just those found today would take decades.
By then, things would be worse.
