lyrics:
DreamWorks has made some really, really, really, good movies over the years. Kung Fu Panda, Kung Fu Panda 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, Kung Fu Panda Holiday…
Uhhh, Kung Fu Panda.
Those are the best films ever.
Kung Fu Panda is my favorite DreamWorks franchise, but my favorite DreamWorks franchise about an Ogre falling in love with a human who turns into an ogre is the Shrek franchise. And today, I will be ranking every Shrek movie. So without further ado, let’s get right into it.
Number 6.
In last place is the first Puss in Boots. It was okay, but it lacked heart. It had some good action, an okay story, and the comedy was kinda generic at times. A lot of the movie failed to contribute to the plot, but that didn’t stop it from being a fairly entertaining film. That’s all I really have to say about this movie.
Number 5.
Shrek. The original Shrek movie is incredible, but it doesn’t match most of the amazing Shrek content that came from it. It’s not this low in the list because of any flaws, it’s just that what they released after is better. It had great action, a really good story, and really great humor. This is one of DreamWorks Animation’s most iconic movies. Not as iconic as the Kung Fu Panda movies though.
Number 4.
Shrek Forever After. This movie is criminally underrated. The action in this film is a huge step up from the first film. The comedy is about the same. But the villain, the villain is amazing. The story is phenomenal, and the stakes are way higher in this movie. Shrek’s character development through this movie goes really well with his journey to this alternate timeline where he was erased. Go watch it if you haven’t yet, you need to see it before Shrek 5.
Number 3.
Shrek 2. Shrek 2 is a masterpiece, and I think that’s something everyone can agree on. Just this one scene where Shrek is trying to save Fiona from being kissed and getting cursed is better than the entire first film. As a matter of a fact, I’m going to spend this entire section talking about that one scene. This “I need a hero” sequence has better action than any other Shrek movie. The build up throughout this movie… No, throughout both the first movie and this movie to this one scene makes it so extraordinary. It contributes so much to the franchise and makes a really big impact on animation overall.
Number 2.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. I honestly prefer this movie over Shrek 2. If you haven’t seen it yet, go watch it. This movie has an incredible story, easily the best action in the entire franchise, heartwarming moments, incredible writing, and phenomenal storytelling. But do you think I really care about any of that? Not really. What I care about is the opening. No, not the giant monster opening. This opening. You saw that correctly. Po from Kung Fu Panda makes a cameo in this movie. Automatically a 10/10 movie.
Number 1.
In first place, the only Kung Fu Pan- I mean the only Shrek movie I haven’t talked about yet takes the cake. I know what you’re thinking, “What movie could be better than a 10/10?” And I thought that too until I saw Shrek & Kung Fu Panda. If you haven’t seen it yet, I can play the full thing for you right here. That’s right, there was an official Shrek and Kung Fu Panda crossover. As you just saw, it was a masterpiece. This is the best Shrek movie, and I don’t even have to explain why. So I won’t. And just to be clear, I’m not just making excuses to not explain why this is the best Shrek movie to make the joke more believable, that is not the case at all, because this is no joke. This is genuinely the best Shrek movie. So when I say Shrek & Kung Fu Panda is an 11/10, I mean it.
Hopefully Kung Fu Panda 4 can be as good as this masterpiece. And for anyone who is tired of me constantly advertising Kung Fu Panda 4, don’t forget that it’s not impossible for my channel to secretly be an advertisement passed on as a meme to promote Kung Fu Panda as a smart marketing strategy by DreamWorks. Not confirming it, just reminding you there is a chance from your perspective.
