R/C F-18 With Gorgeous 'Ala 15' 25th Anniversary Livery!!
'Lucía' is finally unveiling her new beautiful dress... this amazing NTM (Nato Tiger Meet) livery celebrating 25 years of spanish 'Ala 15' squadron history!
I fell in love with this particular scheme years ago as I saw this particular livery perform several times in different local airshows, so I thought it was only logic to paint my Freewing F-18 sporting the same looks :)
Sadly, I am told that the original no longer exists as it was repainted back in military grey. What a terrible shame... :'(
So, in a sense my F-18 (Or C15 as they are referred to in the Spanish Air Force) is a pretty unique bird as it probably is the only plane (capable of flying) still sporting these colors.
To make the event even more special, an actual F-18 flew right over our model aircraft Club immediately after my second flight 'premiering' this livery... what are the chances??? I had never seen a fighter jet over our field in my entire life, and the day I fly for the first time with the 'spanish livery' painted F-18, one pays us a visit. Fate! :DDD
So, the jet has been MONTHS in the workshop, undergoing paint works, airbrush, decals and overal detailing. The decals were mostly provided by Callie Graphics, it was a custom order I made where I provided as much pictures I could of the jet and she made it into a set of high quyality CNC-cut vynils. The first attempt had a few issues with colors and sizing but she fixed it up and sent a second version. If you are into serious modelling and need some really state-of-the-art custom work, go check her out, she's amazing! (https://callie-graphics.com).
And, these flights were actually flights 97th to 100th on this airframe, so indeed a special occasion on all accounts!
Hope you enjoy the video!
Part of it was shot at 180fps for extreme slow motion sequences but the rest was normally filmed at 60fps and slowed down to about 0.7x real speed for scale effect. The footage was also heavily stabilized in post to give the best experience, hope you appreciate the effort.
