Retro JAS-39 Gripen Flies to Synthwave!! (+Crash) ✈️ HD 60fps
JAS-39 Gripen is back at it, performing some crazy-ass post-stall aerobatics and extreme high alpha flybys thanks to the thrust vectoring nozzle and more powerful EDF upgrade (Plus me running a CG 40mm aft of what the manufacturer recommends...).
I messed up again and crashed during a high alpha run, as I panicked and gave too much pitch-down input, too suddenly, causing the jet to pitch down violently, more than I was planning too. Thankfully this bird is pretty tough and in no time she was back in the air and flying as if nothing had happened! :)
This time I went for some retro-feel synthwave electronic music that I think matched pretty well the aesthetics of the flights and the colour of the sky as captured by the camera. :)
In due time, I'll post the 'raw-clips' version on my main channel (youtube.com/Airguardian). I'm kinda tired of the 'this music sucks' type of comments. I do appreciate your recommendations though, I may take them or not, but by all means, post what music you'd like to hear me fly to... let me know! ;)
Again, I am using an upgraded 8S 80mm Jetfan EDF with a 1865kv HET motor. I had to cover the cheater hole with a mosquito net to protect my expensive investment from an otherwise inevitable FOD considering the conditions of my gravel-dirt runway so the jet isn't even displaying it's full thrust potential. This obviously has an effect on performance and current draw. Sadly this setup is too amp hungry and can only get two and a half to three minute flights with throttle management and 3Ah packs. The batteries also struggle to deliver the amps, despite being Panther packs that are pretty heavy/capable. Overall the Jetfan is indeed an improvement in performance over stock setup, but the short resulting flight time kinda defeats the purpose, need to go to higher capacity batteries, and using lower-C packs to keep the weight in check.
These were flights 66th to 69th on 'Jana'.
