This is not required for 100% but if you want to fill your compendium this is one of the animals you must add whilst you have a brief free roam section in Guarma. Pro-tip: note that the snakes only tend to spawn in this one spot, and you need three of them. If there is an animal carcass left there, then it tends to block respawns even if you go away and come back. So carry the carcass and dump it in the river - this seems to increase the chance of getting another to spawn.
