I feel lied to by the anime community that this was "actually bad". . 12 year old me loved it, and so far 23 year old me adores it as well.

Yes, Tohru is... Tohru. But her stereotypical nature doesn't make her not charming. Not only that, but the anime is a good pace, makes you feel for the story, has dark undertones, is beautifully shot, has wonderful dubbed voice acting, and is very well written and hilarious.
