Blah over-top shooter based on the cartoon which was based on the 1984 film where you move your Ghostbuster across a landscape, blasting monsters which turn into ghosts, which you then collect with your laser and you can later deposit in the ghost vault, and you get a 1up if you collect a total of 100. The ghosts can bear helpful items, like extending your laser power, giving you a shield, or some other helpful power-up.. but if you collect the skull icon, your laser meter drops to zero. Use the laser non-stop pretty much, since ghosts emerging from where you killed monsters will often refill the laser meter. If you do run out of laser power there is another shot you can fire but it's very weak. Also, a desperation shot can be fired once per life/level that spreads shots in all directions. Along the way, annoying spikes also pop up from the ground in certain places, often narrow passageways, so wait until they go back down to pass. Sometimes you'll notice there's no ladder or log to traverse a gap-- you'll have to destroy some object (usually a rock) and it'll turn into a ladder or log, allowing you passage. Bosses are often waiting at the end of a level, in the form of giant ghosts, ball and chain-swinging monsters, etc.. but no Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man? B.S.! At any rate, beat 10 levels to complete the game.. but the levels all just feel the same so it hardly seems worth it. You've played many games like this before, so it's nothing new, really. But if you really, REALLY like the movie/cartoon then you may get a kick out of this. Hell, I like the movie/cartoon but I find this game rather dull, even with the simultaneous play this game has (depending on the cabinet, 2 or 3).
