Let's draw a fantasy cover Illustration in the Line and Color Style! This is a fully narrated real time demo.
----
In this video, I create a Dark Forest Barbarian illustration from start to finish in real time. It takes about 2.5 hours and I narrate the whole process.
I start by applying the 5% rule - spending about 15 minutes planning and thumbnailing the image. Then I move into character construction using basic anatomy and the Loomis method for the head. After that, I ink everything using a simple layer setup: foreground, character, and background.
For coloring, I use a simple reliable process with just flat colors and some basic gradients. The color scheme is straightforward - warm character against a cool, dark forest background. I finish up with some final grading and atmosphere.
The frameworks I use are the 5% rule for planning, simple reliable process for the workflow, and the color scheme that always works. It's all real time, so you can see exactly how long each part takes and what the actual process looks like.
