6My first extra clear of Double Dealing Character, done with Sakuya A on 09.10.2017.
What a run! The stage parts were a bit wonky because I was still figuring out my strategy. But, oh boy, Raiko was a blast. So many close calls and I still had two extra lives left at the end.
DDC extra stage is somewhat special to me because it was one of the first extra stages I tried. Obviously, I didn't made it far back then. I remember vividly the frustration of not even getting past the midboss. So I dropped extra stages for a while, being intimidated by the difficulty. But if Touhou teaches one thing, it's that progression comes steadily as long as you have the determination to push forward. After a few normal clears of other games, I suddenly reached Raiko. After a few hard clears, that once feared extra stage became a foe at eye level. That growth of your willpower to aim high and tackle harder and harder challenges is what makes Touhou a wonderful experience to me, despite all the rage along the way.
...but seriously, screw curved lasers. I either get hit by some random bullet while I'm busy trying to predict the paths of the lasers or simply get hit by a laser due to severe brainlag.
