Empowering filmmakers to get the best possible image on the day is the sublime goal of In-Camera VFX (ICVFX). Many technical and practical constraints make this difficult, like LED quality or availability, or when complex stage machinery is needed for the shoot.

This talk presents an on set workflow that delivers advanced post-production near real-time, allowing immediate review by the film-makers, and post-production to begin the moment the director says ‘cut’.

Developed for an in-production feature by a number of partners, we will demonstrate the use of Foundry’s AI & Unreal interop for live compositing, Cooke’s advanced lens calibration & metadata, visual effects assets from Bottleship and EDI, ICVFX consulting from Dublin’s High Res, DP by David Stump ASC, all delivering the creative vision of feature’s VFX designer, Kevin Tod Haug.
