Red Baron (Atari Arcade Classic) - An Old Gamer Plays
Continuing our journey through classic Atari arcade games of the 1980's we come to Red Baron. A simple first-person WWI bi-plane simulator that uses Vector Graphics. Because of this working cabinets are getting harder to find due to the vector displays wearing out. Vector Graphics do not use standard CRTs but displays that were similar to those found on old oscilloscopes. This is why classic arcade cabinets like Atari Star Wars are also becoming rare finds. Other games that use Vector Graphics are Asteroids, Delux Asteroids, Spacewar, and the ever popular Tempest. More are on the way. If you went to arcades in the 80's or 90's tell us about your experiences, what did you love about arcades back then? Let us know in the comments below.
