After getting in trouble with the law last episode, we talk with Hosea, and get the bright idea to head out into the wilderness for a while so people have time to forget our face and so we can hunt the biggest bear you have ever seen. We do start by heading back into Valentine, careful to avoid the law, and get ourselves a new horse. Hosea has obtained a big Shire horse, and although the Shires are workhorse. He could make a nice strong mount for one of us. After a bit of browsing, we decide to stable the Shire but we do end up buying a new mount. Whom we call Shadowfax, breaking from the tradition of calling our mounts simply 'Horse'. (Also, before anyone says something, Yes I do know that the 'OG' Shadowfax was an all white horse but this one is close enough for me.) After purchasing ourselves a new ride we head into the mountains, up near the Dakota river. After a day of hard riding, we are forced to make camp for the night. We have just enough time to hunt a rabbit for dinner. The next morning, we finally find some tracks. The start at the river and work their way inland, Up into the mountains. We finally find a good spot to set some bait. Then we wait, and wait, aaannndd wait. After what seems like maybe three minutes we decide to check the bait, which is a bad idea. At that exact minute, the great one thousand pound bear charges down the hill straight at us. Using our revolver, we manage to fire on it, scaring it away, but without the big gun Hosea is carrying, we are unable to bring it down. He was visibly spooked, and decides to give us a map, so that we can go after the bear, as well as some other prize game in the future, and with that we head back to camp on Horseshoe Overlook.
