The game begins with a mission that takes place several years before the rest of the game. You don't really know what's going on the first time you play it, nor are you expected to. Just pay attention and try to get done what you need to do. The stuff that takes place in this mission will make more sense if you replay the level after getting further into the game.

Anyway, this mission will take place in a military complex that houses the Nanocell, a key component in being able to understand and use Nanotechnology. As part of Chancellor Sopot's forces, you, as Alias, must infiltrate the complex and steal the Nanocell.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

Infiltrate the military compound.
Disable the guard towers (4).
Hold the courtyard until Shrike arrives.
Enter the complex.

MAIN OBJECTIVE: INFILTRATE THE MILITARY COMPOUND
The dropship transporting you to the complex will set you down right outside the walls of the base. From the hillside, you'll need to find a way into the compound. There are two ways you can get in, both dealing with explosives (use the alternate fire on your weapon or grenades).

The first is to shoot the beam out in the corner that the wall makes. It'll collapse, forming a ramp that you can use to get in. The second option is to blast a hole in the wall and enter from there. Whichever route you choose, be careful entering. There are a lot of enemies and a missile-firing cannon inside.

MAIN OBJECTIVE: DISABLE THE GUARD TOWERS (4)
Once you've made it into the compound, the first order of business should be to clear the area out a bit. Take out the missile cannon with a few well-aimed grenade shots from your Nanotech Individual Combat Weapon (NICW). Take out some of the guards to get them off your back, but keep in mind that an endless supply of them will pour out from the inside.

If you're ever in need of health, there are plenty of kits scattered nearby. You can find two of these on a ledge to the left of the main doors, as well as others elsewhere.

After you've made things a little less hectic, you'll need to destroy each of the four guard towers so that Shrike will be able to come. Fire a grenade from your NICW into the base of each tower, then watch the fireworks.

MAIN OBJECTIVE: HOLD THE COURTYARD UNTIL SHRIKE ARRIVES
With the guard towers down, Shrike will be free to drop by with his gunship to blow open the doors for you. It'll take him a little while to get there, so hold on. Enemy guards will be coming out of doors on the walkway above either side of the main doors. Stay on one side and concentrate on shooting enemies as soon as they come out.

Once Shrike arrives, get out of the way of the doors. He'll convince them to open with a little explosive persuasion.

MAIN OBJECTIVE: ENTER THE COMPLEX
Once Shrike has blasted the doors, simply walk in the opening and into the complex.

PART 2: CONTAINMENT FACILITY
The key to Nano-Technology is inside the central core.

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

Recover the Nanocell from the central core.
Destroy the coolant units on the storage module (2).

MAIN OBJECTIVE: RECOVER THE NANOCELL FROM THE CENTRAL CORE
You're inside the complex, and you need to locate the Nanocell and high-tail it out of there. Go through the doors at the beginning. There will be two guards to your immediate left a guard ahead of you by the vehicles, and one in the room through the window to the right. Use some grenades from your NICW coupled with some standard fire to take them out. Try to take as many of them out as you can before going through the door and entering the room.

As you proceed further into the room, more enemies will appear. Watch out for two more of them to come into the room through the glass window on the right. Once the entire area is clear, head to the back of the room. There will be two vents near the floor hear. Shoot open one, crouch down, and go inside.

When you're inside the vent, flip on your night vision goggles and enter the tunnel to the right. At the end, blast open the vent cover and grenade the two chatty guards right outside it. Jump out and look to your right for another guard, then for another one coming from the left.

The area you're in now is composed of a central hallway connected to many smaller ones. At the very end of the central hallway is a door to the area where the Nanocell is being kept. There are a lot of enemies in this area, so it's actually beneficial to just make a break for the door sooner rather than later. Cautiously and quickly move down the central hallway, peeking into the adjacent halls and firing grenades as needed.

Once you reach the door, you'll realize that you're trapped. The door behind you closed and the door to the Nanocell area won't open. The only way out is through the vents on the floor. Shoot them open and drop in. Follow the tunnel, go up the ladder, then shoot open the vent cover. You're now in the Nanocell room.
