Short video showing a playthrough of the Red Faction Trade Demo which as far as I can tell was sent to media organizations in early February 2001 to preview the game.
I'm still in absolute shock I finally got to play this. I had been looking for a copy of the Red Faction Trade Demo for years - it was the only demo build of the game I knew had been distributed but that I didn't yet have a copy of. Through the ridiculous amount of searching and digging I did, I couldn't find a disk image of it anywhere. Furthermore, I've still only been able to find evidence of 3 physical copies of this disc that exist, and they're all now owned by collectors. Thankfully, when I contacted them, one of those collectors was willing to send me a copy.
Now for the unfortunate part... as far as I can tell, it's visually pretty much the same as the previous PS2 demo (the one I ported to PC last year). It's a newer build though - the trade demo is build 130, whereas the public demo is build 117. Nevertheless, even if visually it looks pretty much the same as the other more widely available demo, it's still another piece of Red Faction history that was previously missing and has now been found - and I'm really happy to finally be able to document it.
