Reddit Is REGRETTING STALKER 2 After KCD2's Release...
The release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has alerted many in the r/stalker community to the fact that the game they have been playing daily for two months is a buggy mess. While I am overall satisfied with the fact that some have officially woken up, I am disappointed that a medieval game in another genre entirely has done it. It would seem to me that simply playing the game itself would tell you how it plays and handles, but whatever. And with KCD2 "breaking even" over the weekend as player numbers continue to rise, it only overshadows GSC that much more.
As some Redditors on r/stalker say, "KCD 2 is EVERYTHING that people expected Stalker 2 to be. And honestly, I expected it to have the same amount of width too. Every location would have had some kind of encounter or sidequest or something. And that wasn't even blind hope, that was genuinely based on the leaked material. The content wasn't obviously finished, but it was partially there or at least was described somehow, either in the files or in the maps. While it was expected that some content would be cut, in fact even the leaked build already had cut content compared to the map that it had in the PDA, nobody in the crazy enthusiast part of the community expected that 2/3rds of the content would be cut. I'm not joking, two thirds! It's insane. And it wasn't some concept stuff that got cut, those were functional or half-functional quests and encounters from the build! Or at least something that was already outlined in the files! It's crazy. Honestly, everyone was blown away. We could have had something that was between KCD 1 and KCD 2. Something must have happened behind the scenes for GSC to cut so much. There is no way that they said "Nah we aint finishing these 50-80% complete quests in 1.5 years, cut them out!". There must have been a genuine reason for another massive development problem sometime in late 2023 and early 2024 which we don't know of."
Yes, there probably was. However, we probably will never know the true extent of GSC's development issues unless someone comes out about it. Here's to the next February patch for STALKER 2.
