Sometimes I find it's good to do the Sherlock Holmes method of figuring out what is right to do. Holmes didn't try to figure out what something was, he wanted to know what it wasn't. When he had arrived at all possible variables of what the truth is not, whatever the last possible variable is, it must be the truth. So don't beat yourself up if you did something wrong, rather use it as a learning experience to find out more what is right.
