Renzo Racer - Early Access Watcher -
Disclosure: This game copy was bought by the reviewer.
Choose from 16 different drivers to drive on one of the 20 available tracks. Single player is currently the only option with the player selecting a driver and a track to race on. Each track is littered with obstacles, destructible objects and some even have secret paths (sort of). Levels look okay, the music I could hear was great and every driver has a distinct look.
Unfortunately, the driving controls are terrible. No drifting to get around tight courners, no way to reverse when you hit a wall (which will auto-correct you at least after a few seconds) and the physics vary from a slight tap on the hood to sending you 10 feet into the air for simply tapping another driver. The only way to accurately maneuver is to slow down and turn, which given how the acceleration handles, can send you all the way back to 7th place.
The lack of an options menu also causes some issues when dealing with the audio. The engines make too much noise and drown out anything else. It needs to be lowered. I can't recommend the game due to the way the controls function, but this doesn't help things either. Hold off for the time being and hopefully with a month or two of work, it will be easier to handle.
